Ep. 01: How to post-process travel photos

July 02, 2015  •  Leave a Comment

I spent the last few days processing a set of travel photos that a good friend captured in Australia and Malaysia. With a newborn in the house, I barely get a chance to step out to take photos of my own. This was a welcome break for a very sleep-deprived new-dad. What better topic to start off my photography blog with, right?

In this episode, we'll go through some basic photo processing to bring out the amazing beauty in two travel photos.

  • You will get an overview of the Adobe Lightroom workflow I use for most photos.
  • You will learn how to bright out details from shadow and highlight regions, then reintroduce necessary contrast.
  • You will get a quick overview of how adjustment brushes can be used to dodge and burn photos so that the final output has necessary drama.
  • You will learn basic tips such as how to batch-process photos, straighten horizon, and selectively sharpen photos.

I hope you will find the tutorial useful. I look forward to hearing your feedback.
